JACKIE HUNDT

College Counselor, Test Prep

Jackie Hundt has spent the majority of her career as a grant program specialist in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. With over 25 years of experience in grant writing, proposal development, program implementation, and evaluation, she has worked tirelessly on behalf of community organizations to improve the quality of life for individuals whom they serve.

Joining ILLUMII as the Director of College Planning marks a return to Jackie’s academic roots and passion for promoting educational growth and success for all students. She is thrilled to use her expertise to assist parents and their college-bound children find and ease the pathway to higher education. In addition to her experience with proposals and deadlines, her skill set is well-suited for the arduous college application and financial aid process. She possesses both strong editing and writing skills, a careful attention to detail, and an ability to prepare high-quality and internally consistent application packages. Her high mathematical proficiency in budget work, data management/analysis, and performance measurement lends itself well to assisting with financial aid processes and working with students individually to improve scores on the math section of the SAT and ACT. Jackie uses her excellent observational, problem solving, brainstorming, and troubleshooting skills throughout the college planning and test prep process.

Jackie has enjoyed volunteering in the community, whether at her two sons’ schools or through her placements within the Junior League of Winston-Salem. As a sustaining member of the League, she reads and offers feedback on college essays for Crosby Scholars. She has served on several community boards, and currently is a board member for the Clemmons Food Pantry. She grew up on college campuses as the daughter of a physics professor, and still frequents the university environment with her husband, Gregg, a High Point University psychology professor. Jackie always credits her alma mater, Wake Forest University (WFU), for preparing her for a purposeful and impactful life. Her bachelor’s degree in chemistry has served her well, giving her the necessary analytical, technical, and quantitative skills to navigate rapid changes in our data-driven world; and WFU’s liberal arts education honed her writing skills and set the path for her professional life.
