What's in a Name? Quite a lot, actually.

The ILLUMII name and logo origin story…

Illuminati? No…ILLUMII! Now you might be wondering, why choose this name for a business? In the search for names the ultimate goal was to create an iconic brand that would represent our concept of brightness in the childhood, parenting, and educational journey. There are times on this journey, though, that our paths are not clear. We need answers, understanding, and help with decisions. We need someone in our corner to illuminate the path forward.

My family and bright spots. ILLUMII is born from the idea that it takes a lot of wrangling of resources to guide our children (and ourselves) - let’s make it easier and more personal by combining many of the common services needed to support the childhood journey under one roof.

ILLUMII’s goal is to brighten those moments - with information, understanding, support, guidance, and compassion. And, it is not a coincidence that in the name ILLUMII, there is an I, U, and MII, which means that your experience at ILLUMII will be a collaboration between your family and our team of experts advisors, consultants, coaches and counselors.

What about the logo? The logo suggests three concepts that were important to me - brightness, motion, and representing the ‘whole’ family system. In our primary logo (pictured above) do you see a rising sun? Also, notice that the ‘sun’ is not stationary, but suggests forward motion with it’s angled lines (which are, incidentally, the same shape as all the ‘i’s’ in our name. Don’t you love those designers!!!). Finally, the circular shape represents the whole child approach - the brain, the heart, the parent, the school, and the community all working together to illuminate the path forward.

That might seem like a lot of thinking for a name and logo, and yes, it is - but I’d rather think of it is intentionality. With intention and an eye on the concepts of wholeness and bright spots and forward motion we can work together to do some great things - guide bright futures, right?.
